Regional's markets include hotels and motels, caterers, independent and chain restaurants, coffee shops, delis, hospitals, nursing homes, ice cream shops, schools, fire departments, grocery stores, food processors, janitorial cleaning companies, amusement parks and stadiums.
Our mission is to be the best. Regional has recruited the top talent in the industry and works with the best technology available. Our friendly, outgoing and personable employees are motivated by the company's potential, the same drive that sparked the idea for Regional's existence in 1994.
Regional has a culture of employees who contribute to making the company unique. This group of professionals takes on a work-hard, play-hard attitude, resulting in a fun work environment of people who put forth positive attitudes to get the job done.
Regional's accomplishments stem from a dedication to success and understanding of teamwork. When Tracy and Dave Scalen started Regional Distributors they had one truck, one driver and a small warehouse. As the company grew, so did the need for a larger workspace. Regional has upgraded office and warehouse space twice since it first began.
The company's current Lexington Avenue location houses more than 50 employees, 10 trucks and over 100,000 square feet of office and warehouse space that provides the company with the room it needs to continue growing.
HISTORY
Regional Distributors entered the business world in September 1994. After Tracy and Dave Scalen noticed advancement opportunities in the marketplace, they went door to door to recruit customers for their new company. As with most beginnings, the Scalen's experienced moments of anxiety, and they faced their biggest struggle while establishing Regional's name in the vendor and customer communities. However, the couple remained optimistic, and the company's success came from the same strategy its employees use today: Do whatever if takes to satisfy the customers.
In September 2000, Regional's sales tripled after joining Consolidated Distributors, Inc. This growth forced the company to move to a new building, which it outgrew in three years.
In 2003, Regional invested in new software to better handle the company's growth in sales and profit.
The company acquired Rochester Janitor Supplies, Inc. in late 2004. RJS brought with it janitorial supplies, equipment and about 1,000 customers.
In March 2005, Regional acquired Green Oaks Janitor Supply, Inc., which added 50 customers.
In the first quarter of 2006, Regional acquired Paper Distributors, Inc., which brought Regional 400 customers and a strong presence in the Buffalo market. This acquisition also set Regional firmly into the ice cream toppings and supplies business.
